Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our airport guest relations’ officer will personally meet all arriving guests. We will be standing outside the arrival section holding a signboard with your name on it. You are met and transferred to your hotel in Entebbe for your overnight stay. Most tourists stop here for a couple of days on their way to Uganda’s diverse parks and reserves, or take some time to relax and unwind after a flurry of action-packed safari and wildlife experiences. WHAT TO EXPECT

A striking feature that is most often seen in the areas near the rainforests is the use of terraced agriculture, which rings the hills in thousands of shades of green. Beginning at the main point of arrival in Entebbe, most safaris will head west to the broad belt of national parks that form the western border.

Due to the country being situated right on the meeting point of the eastern savannah and western jungle ecosystems, Uganda has excellent terrain for a wide variety of safaris, from traditional game drives through golden grassland seeking lion or elephant to strapping on your hiking boots and trekking through lush rainforest.

The birding is superlative, with the variation in habitat attracting a vast array of species, including the crowning glory of the shoebill, a highly sought-after sight for the true birder. The traditional Big Five parks of Uganda, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Murchison Falls, do not yet match the game densities of their contemporaries to the east.

That said, the game viewing is still very much alive and well and the parks boast a mere fraction of the tourist numbers that may dilutes the experience for those visiting the more developed destinations. A sighting of lion, elephant or leopard here is a moment to treasure and is seldom shared with other vehicles.

Dry Season – July to October and it’s easier to find / spot game due to less vegetation cover and around water holes and water bodies in the national parks.

October and November have short rains that rarely disrupt safari plans

Wet Season March to May – Longer rain patterns and wildlife might be sparse and game tracks impassable

Green Season – September- February – Short rains in October and November, Greener Landscapes

Low season – March – May – Heavy rains that may disrupt safari plans, fewer travelers and low season discounts offered on travel packages.

A number of international airlines fly directly within East Africa among them British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Egypt Air, Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines, Etihad, Kenya Airways, Qatar, KLM, Uganda Airways South African Airlines and Turkish Airlines. Most major towns have an airstrip as do most National Parks and Game Reserves. There are regular scheduled flights between most airstrips, and there are reputable charter operations as well

What are the visa requirements for East African Countries?

Visa Uganda:

Uganda Single entry visas costs US $50 per person. All nationals can process Uganda Travel Visas electronically through the Uganda E-immigration System or purchase the travel visa directly upon arrival and paid for in cash.

East African Tourist Visa:

If you are planning to travel to East Africa and travel to the East Africa countries (Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania) it is recommendable to request for the East African Tourist Visa. This special East Africa tourist visa costs US $100 per person and allows 90 days multiple entry to Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania.

How to obtain the East African Tourist Visa.

Applications for the East Africa Tourist visa is at any of the diplomatic representation of the Republic of Kenya, Republic of Rwanda and Republic of Uganda and Republic of Tanzania at the Immigration Offices of the respective countries or online where applicable.

  • Uganda and Kenya: upon arrival at the airport and can be paid directly in cash and find information on the visa application process on the consular section of your local Kenya embassy’s website.
  • Rwanda: online via the Rwanda Immigration website. Similar to the application for the single entry visa but make sure to select the East African Tourist Visa.
  • Tanzania has recently joined though information on how to apply for this visa is yet to be confirmed.

Within East Africa, accommodations ranges are budget, midrange, and luxury/top end facilities. These consist of Guest Houses, Motels, Dormitories, camping grounds, Hostels, Hotels, Lodges, Luxury Tented Camps, Fly in Camps, Cottages /Cabins. During your itinerary designing, we always advise accordingly with descriptions of the facilities and do aim for comfort, cleanliness, safety, and a good location.

Rooming and Single Room Supplements (SRS)

Within the national parks, most of rooms are twin bedded rooms despite the fact that the rooms may be booked as single rooms as well. There is supplement to book a single room. If you are travelling as a family, most facilities lack family settings however some do arrange triple rooms from time to time what is normally called Extra Bed Supplement – a twin bedded room with an additional bed
Meals

Most of the lodges around and in the national parks offer rates inclusive of meals (Full Board) however you may request for a bed and breakfast option to get advice accordingly. Children rates are offered between 2 -12 years –usually 50% off adult rate though this has to be reconfirmed.
