GORILLA TREKKING

East Africa is home to the vast majority of the world’s  Mountain Gorilla population. Seeing these animals up close in their natural habitat is one of the most impressive wildlife encounters in Africa. Visiting the gorillas directly supports conservation efforts and population growth.

It is difficult to describe the exhilaration attached to first setting eyes on a wild mountain gorilla. That said, it is not something to be undertaken lightly. The hike up to the gorillas’ preferred habitat of bamboo forest involves a combination of steep muddy slopes, dense vegetation, slippery underfoot conditions after rain and high altitude.

This affordable Uganda Fly-in 3-day gorilla tour goes with a flight from Entebbe to your gorilla trek in Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable National Park thus avoiding the long 9-hour drive to Bwindi and back.   The fly-in gorilla trek tour is best for those who don't like long drives on Uganda's bumpy roads. The flight from Entebbe to Kihihi/ Kisoro airstrip (the landing near Bwindi) departs at 0745 and the return flight from Bwindi departs at 0945 arriving at Entebbe at 1125. With this, it means you may consider arriving at Entebbe either a day before the tour start day or, earlier than 7 AM on Day 1 of the tour. The aim of designing this trip program is to have you safely reach the mountain gorillas in comfort. Instead of the long drives to trek the mountain gorillas, you will be flying to them. Flying to the gorillas also avails you more time for the other optional activities in Bwindi aside from the gorilla trekking - like the Batwa pygmies cultural experience, canoeing on Lake Mutanda, local community and farmland visits, or simply relaxing for the day.

Maximize your visit to Africa by tracking the mountain gorillas twice on your Uganda gorilla tour.  This is 4-days Uganda gorilla trekking safari offers you a chance to visit the mountain gorillas twice on your safari to Africa so that you have more time with them in their wild jungles. We shall ensure you get booked on different gorilla families for your trek in advance so that every time you trek into the jungles to see the gorillas you have a uniquely different approach. The 4-day gorilla trek tour starts and ends in Kampala or Entebbe but we can also start/ end in Kigali if you let us know. Flights to/from Bwindi can also be arranged instead of driving.
